C&S has an immediate opening for a full-time, long-term Claims Adjuster for a state office in Jefferson City.

Salary/hours for Claims Adjuster: $19-$22/hr.; Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Responsibilities for Claims Adjuster:

• review and investigate claims and/or exposures; request information necessary to process claims and/or determine liability exposures; or provide support for Risk Management’s workers’ compensation, property, and/or liability programs, or the Missouri Public Entity Risk Management Fund’s underwriting, claims, and/or loss control programs
• process payments for workers’ compensation claims
• assist with the review of rating factors to determine appropriate rate classifications; assist with review of applications and questionnaires to determine potential risk exposures
• assist employees and state and public entities with the reporting of claims
• maintain up-to-date, detailed files on workers’ compensation claims and/or policies
• assist in the maintenance, interpretation, and reporting of accident, injury, and/or loss control data
• attend onsite training

Requirements for Claims Adjuster:

• introductory knowledge of Missouri statutes dealing with workers’ compensation
• introductory knowledge of workers’ compensation, medical insurance, including underwriting, claims administration, member services and loss control
• introductory knowledge of medical terminology and diagnostic coding used in processing workers’ compensation claims
• ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and interact professionally, even in adversarial situations, with public entity and government officials, state employees, medical and legal professionals, insurance agents/brokers and the general public
